English: William Webster (d. 1735), British clock- and watchmaker, the founder of the Webster dynasty of clockmakers one of the most prominent in English clockmaking that lasted over 200 years. Completed his apprenticeship under Thomas Tompion in 1710; opened for business in London’s Exchange Alley in 1711; elected Junior Warden for the Clockmakers Company in 1734.
