Wolfsklamm (Wolf's gorge) was made accessible to tourists as soon as 1901, by building wooden stairs. In 1936, a complete boardwalk was constructed, but was destroyed in 1950 due to inundation. Local tourism and village authorities had it re-installed by 1957.

Wolfsklamm is entered at the north edge of Stans and leads to St. Georgenberg monastery. It is said to have 354 stairs, being unique in the Alps.
