The Yorkshire Naturalists' Union was founded in 1861, being an amalgamation of the many societies dedicated to the natural sciences, which abounded in the North of England at that time. Its journal, The Naturalist, Was started in 1864, although its first publication was dated 1865 on the front page. (There are copies of early issues of The Naturalist on the Internet Archive.)
