Moved from Category talk:Hermitage of Nossa Senhora da Esperança (Faro):

I am against the titles in mixed languages, the category should be named Ermida de Nossa Senhora da Esperança or Hermitage of Our Lady of Hope. --Petrus Adamus (talk) 08:18, 21 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm generally against translating proper names of monuments, precisely because this kind of nonsense deriving from hasty translations. Our role here is not creating new names that sound more like something we would find in the most cheap tourist guides, rather than an encyclopaedia or serious image bank. In this case, "hermitage" (secluded place where an hermit lives) was erroneously used for the chapel type of building - Ermida and Capela generally are interchangeable designations for exactly the same building, and it's use applies to the same kind of building in the Portuguese ecclesiastic documentation.
