Potential future category move[edit]

If Hillary Clinton wins the 2016 presidential election, I propose moving/renaming this category as either Category:First Spouses of the United States or First Gentlemen Ladies of the United States or First Ladies and Gentlemen of the United States. Other options creating a new category entitled First Spouses of the United States where both this category and a separate category entitled First Gentlemen of the United States would be housed as separate sub-categories. Any thoughts on this?SecretName101 (talk) 20:36, 13 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If we opt to simply rename this, we would do the same with its sub-categories. For example, if we rename this Category:First Spouses of the United States then Category:First Ladies of the United States in the Oval Office‎ would be renamed as Category:First Spouses of the United States in the Oval Office (and the already existing Category:Bill Clinton in the Oval Office would be added to it).
However if we opt to create a new central 'First Gentlemen' category that would house both this category (retaining its current name) and a seperate 'First Gentlemen of the United States' category, then we would have to do the following:
  • Move Category:United States presidential couples‎ to the central Category:First Spouses of the United States
  • Move Category:First Spouse Program to the central Category:First Spouses of the United States
  • Make a decision on the fate of Category:Official First Lady painted portraits in the White House‎ (whether we treat it similarly to this category, or whether we instead rename it and move it the central Category:First Spouses of the United States)
  • Make a decision on the fate of Category:First Ladies of the United States together‎ (whether we treat it similarly to this category, or whether we instead rename it and move it the central Category:First Spouses of the United States)
  • Make a decision on the fate of Category:First Ladies of the United States in the Oval Office‎ (whether we treat it similarly to this category, or whether we instead rename it and move it the central Category:First Spouses of the United States)
  • Make a decision on the fate of Category:Signatures of First Ladies of the United States (whether we treat it similarly to this category, or whether we instead rename it and move it the central Category:First Spouses of the United States)

Please share your opinions on this matter SecretName101 (talk) 20:48, 13 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

As for the title of Category:The First Ladies exhibit in the National Museum of American History, it will simply be decided by whether or not the exhibit is ever re-named. I believe that perhaps, if we go the route of seperate categories and a central Category:First Spouses, that is should be housed in the central category. But perhaps there is a very strong case to leave it in the First Ladies Category until the exhibit is ever expanded to include Bill Clinton-related artifacts (likely to occur sometime after the inaugural ball if Hillary becomes president, as I would presume that they might add his suit or tuxedo to stand alongside their collection of inaugural gowns). This is because, until they expand it to mention Bill, the exhibit would only have focused on the First Ladies and no First Gentlemen.SecretName101 (talk) 20:52, 13 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Category:Acting First Ladies of the United States will, in any scenario, remain as it is in both its name and its location. It will not be re-titled or moved as we have not had any Acting First Gentlemen.SecretName101 (talk) 20:57, 13 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
