Anyone who speaks German will know the pronunciation and therefor not need it and everyone else is more likely to be interested in knowing the pronunciation in the native language rather than in German. So why are people uploading files of German pronounciation of non-German cities and countries?

This is Commons - the files are not only for the English-language Wikipedia. E.g. users of the German-language Wikipedia are likely to be interested in the commonly used German pronunciation of non-German cities/countries, they don't necessarily know it in any case, I think, so it might make sense to upload such files here. For example, one could ask himself whether "Moskau", the German name of Moscow, should be pronounced "Mooskau" or "Mosskau" or... you see? Gestumblindi 23:12, 19 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Believe it or not, some people ARE interested in how things are called and pronounced in other languages. ;) --Neg 19:37, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
