Removal of link[edit]

Help I do not understand why a link to its Facebook site, effectively identifying the subject of a category, should be removed as "unnecessary" from its desciption. Doesn't seem to make sense in our "free flow of information". Could somebody neutral please explain? How does that improve Commons? SergeWoodzing (talk) 14:04, 4 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Firstly, on this topic I'm neutral, you're not. If a neutral party wants to add a link to an official website (even if it is a Facebook page), that's ok by me, but our category system is not supposed to be used by users with a COI as an advertising/SEO platform. For me, the link is unnecessary - the first sentence of the category page is enough to identify the subject, but I'm ok if consensus is to include it. It's just that you're too involved to make that call. --99of9 (talk) 05:59, 7 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Was that supposed to be neutral? So we're all OK with certain additions to Wikimedia project pages, but only if you personally approve of the person making the addition? Neutral. Hm. Shall I also stop contributing images for fear of your not approving of me doing so? Apparently I'm doing a lot of damage?
CabarEng is a non-profit group with no commercial interests which educates young people in internatuional entertainment. That should be obvious to one and all, not just to you and me.
"Choose which pages to link based on the immediate benefit to Wikipedia readers". That's all I went by.
Anyone elso with no bias care to commment? SergeWoodzing (talk) 12:10, 7 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
