Christian Renatus von Zinzendorf[edit]

Moravian spiritual leader (1727-1752) who was the son of Nicholas von Zinzendorf and Erdmuthe von Reuss. He lived primarily at Herrnhaag as the head of the community. His blending of sexuality and spirituality created a scandalous atmosphere that ended with the closure of the community. He was considered to be Christ's representative on earth and declared himself to be the living sidehole, meaning the literal embodiment of Christ's compassionate and sacrificial love.
