Staffordshire Gold Hoard (en.Wikipedia front page news)[edit]

Above is a Flickr set of 619 photos of the Staffordshire hoard of Anglo Saxon Gold recently discovered in England. All the images I checked were licensed Attribution 2.0 Generic, although a lot seem to be duplicates or similars, or not appropriate for our scope, but you will see there are some cracking images. I would do it myself picking the best ones manully but seemingly Flickr2Commons is knackered. Ultra7 (talk) 23:04, 24 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Too late. It looks like they've all been changed to Attribution-Non-Commercial 2.0 Generic. Ultra7 (talk) 13:38, 25 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • The flickr account portableantiquities, seems to be the official account of the Portable Antiquities Scheme. I noticed on the link posted by Ultra7 above, that it says "The press quality photos are by Dave Rowan, attributed to Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. Some of the photos maybe mis-attributed, or lacking photographic attribution. Please send us a message if there are problems." Maybe someone with a flickr account can message portableantiquities?--Breandán MacAmhlaidh (talk) 07:20, 25 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Edit: I noticed this Media Centre at the hoard's official website. Seems to me that they must have the permissions squared away.--Breandán MacAmhlaidh (talk) 07:22, 25 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Opinions[edit]

Are Images like this copyvios because it says "Photo by David Rowan, Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery" or is this really from the Art gallery and freely licensed?--Diaa abdelmoneim (talk) 23:12, 24 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
