Biblioteca Hemeroteca Municipal de Tarragona (Local Library and Newspaper Archive of Tarragona in English) is an institution founded in 1985 by the city authorities. It contains one of the largest publicly accessible sets of local newspapers and historical books and publications related to Tarragona.
A few of the significant works archived at their facilities are, Diario de Tarragona (1808-1938), La Cruz (1902-1936), La Veu de Tarragona (1913-1935), Catalònia (1935-1936), Llibertat (1936-1938), Diario Español (1939-1986) and many others.
Presentation[edit]
In late 2014 the hemeroteque started it's collaboration with Amical Wikimedia signing an agreement that made all of their own published text at the official website available to Wikimedia projects thru an OTRS authorization. Articles improved with this material can be found at the Wikiproject page in Catalan.
During 2020 several singular head titles from historical newspapers from Tarragona area were uploaded to illustrate a dozen of articles in Catalan Wikipedia. Uploaded works can be seen at Contributions from Biblioteca Hemeroteca Municipal de Tarragona.
Staff from the institution continues to provide free knowledge and references as well as sets of images in the public domain with the assessment of Amical's volunteers.
