fr:Émilien de Nieuwerkerke, fr:Mathilde Bonaparte etc...
Reason Émilien de Nieuwerkerke was a sculptor, and the unofficial "minister of the Culture" (Directeur Général des Musées Impériaux) of Napoleon III. He was also the lover of en:Mathilde Bonaparte. Even if he personaly liked the academic art and did not favor contemporary art, he played the first role in the french state cultural policy at the time. He died in exile in Italy after the falling of Napoleon III. We had only until now a thumbnail photographic portrait. This one, by Disdéri, seems better in scope. Restored by me. Studio work, no geocode is needed. -- Jebulon (talk)
