Wiki Loves Earth United Arab Emirates 2023

Wiki Loves Earth is an international photographic competition to promote natural heritage sites around the world through Wikimedia projects (mainly Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons), and this is the Emirati version. Everybody can participate! There are a lot of natural heritage sites in the United Arab Emirates, and the goal of Wiki Loves Earth is to encourage people to take pictures of those natural sites and to put them under a free license so that others may access them through the Internet.

Wiki Loves Earth 2023 in the United Arab Emirates is the 1^st edition of Wiki Loves Earth in the United Arab Emirates. The contest will take place from 1 May 2023 to 15 June 2023.

In May and June, you may upload as many pictures as you want of natural sites that you have visited. The pictures don't have to be taken in May, but must be uploaded during that month to be considered. Provide your photo with {{Wiki Loves Earth 2023|AE}} template. At the end of the month, the contest jury will begin evaluating the photographs and will choose the best 10 pictures of the natural sites in the United Arab Emirates, and ultimately in the world.

Why participate?

Participate in Wiki Loves Earth United Arab Emirates and help Wikipedia document protected areas, natural monuments and everything inside them!

Because it's fun! By photographing and sharing images of protected areas nearby you, you can explore more about United Arab Emirates and learn about its immense natural heritage. It's a nice challenge to improve your photography skills, and you can of course win some nice prizes.

N.B.: All pictures have to be uploaded from the 1^st of May to the 15^th of June. You can also upload images that you may already have taken in the past, for example during one of your travels to the country, but you can upload them only during the indicated period.

Competition rules

We try to keep the competition clean and simple to participate. There are only a few rules for photos to participate in the contest in United Arab Emirates. Let's quickly go through them.
All entries must be original photographs uploaded by their authors.
All photos must be uploaded fronm May 1^st to June 15^th 2023, to be eligible
All photos must be under a free license
Participants must have an active email account.
Lists of eligible sites are published [[1]]. Photos of representative species (animals, plants etc.) taken in an eligible site also qualify if they are properly identified.
Captions and description are required
Make sure that there are no visible watermarks
All photos must have at least 2Mpx.
