Expansion of the numbers of structured lists of Austrian monuments during the de:Wikipedia:WikiProjekt Denkmalpflege/Österreich in 2011

Austria takes part in the Wiki Loves Monuments public photo contest 2011. The contest is integrated into Wikipedia's project on cultural heritage.

Since 2009 Austrian Wikipedians prepared within de:Wikipedia:WikiProjekt Denkmalpflege/Österreich structured lists of all the 36.000 monuments in Austria, which are under protection of the authorities. These lists show, which monuments are already protected, but maybe forgotten by the public. For all these objects photographs may be taken during the contest.

In September 2011 all the pictures of Austrian monuments will be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons. They may illustrate the structured lists or even articles in Wikipedia. A national jury of 20 people will choose the best pictures, which will be presented to a panel of professionals in the fields of architecture, monuments and photography.

A website for the Austrian part of the contest is presented at wikilovesmonuments.at. All actions on Wiki Loves Monuments 2011 for the German Wikipedia are coordinated at de:Wikipedia:Wiki loves monuments 2011, the cooperation on the records of Austrian monuments takes place at de:Wikipedia:WikiProjekt Denkmalpflege/Österreich, there are already 130 contributers to the lists.
