These are notes from a Skype meeting held between Lodewijk (Effeietsanders), Maarten (Multichill), Elke (Elya) and Tomasz (odder) on Sunday, 11 March 2012, 18:00—19:20 (UTC).
Topics discussed
[edit]Technical issues
[edit]- Elke is actively working with the WMF on the UploadWizard, including bug tracking and other issues. She won't do coding on this.
- Elke has also tested the Layar application and has been in touch with Raul & already updated the application a bit.
- Commonist — Tomasz has posted a request on the mailing list, forwarded by Lodewijk to Wikitech; no response yet.
- Monuments database — Elke knows someone who might be interested in helping out. We really need people to work on the front end.
- Maarten wants an OSM based map for Wiki Loves Monuments and will contact Tim (Colossus) about this.
Communication
[edit]- Email with summary still has to be sent -- will be done in the upcoming days (AP Tomasz & Lodewijk).
- The who's who page is also still in the works. (AP Tomasz)
- Standard welcome text still in the works. (AP Tomasz)
- The Facebook page got updated, and looks good!
- Elke updated the theme for the website, and it is downloadable from her website.
- Maarten is working on fixing the .org domain.
- Introduction of the website should be updated. (AP Elke)
- Tomasz needs to work on the Commons portal (AP Tomasz):
- The general guidelines need an update;
- Progress table is a mess. Should be fixed ASAP;
- The documentation on monuments database is too crowded and needs a split.
Participating countries
[edit]- USA — Elke got in touch with Frank, more about that soon.
- Maarten contacted Moka; the WMF offered to help and will get in touch with the volunteers that signed up.
- Saharan Africa — Elke is in touch with Moushira. The Egyptian database looks promising (will be in Arabic and probably in English, too), more information to come this coming week.
- There will be no news on Marocco before the end of the month.
- No updates on Tunisia yet.
- India has national heritage level + local/govermenal level, "foundation + chapters" - summary: it's complicated.
- We already have a global map of participating countries :-)
- We need to merge the two Google Docs on participating countries (AP Tomasz).
Other issues
[edit]- We do need an extra person to deal with the budget.
- Lodewijk will send out an email about it to wikilovesmonuments-l; we need someone who will be helpful in the general coordination and is also interested in money stuff (AP Lodewijk).
- The budget has been discussed shortly. We still need some additional funding.
- Maarten is going to check this with Wikimedia France (AP Maarten)
- Tomasz will ask Wikimedia Poland for additional money (AP Tomasz).
- Chapters meeting:
- We are willing to have a meeting with individuals from the participating countries (chapter people) on Sunday afternoon, a detailed real-life discussion on Sunday evening and a meeting with an employee on Monday morning and afternoon.
- Trademarks will be discussed at a next meeting, to be held on Sunday, March 18, at 19:00 (UTC).
