The Eemhuis in Amersfoort

Wikipedia in het Eemhuis is a partnership between Wikimedia Nederland and two organisations housed in the Eemhuis in Amersfoort: Bibliotheek Eemland, the public library, and Archief Eemland, an archive for Amersfoort and surrounding municipalities.

History[edit]

On 29 november 2013 the Wikimedia community was invited for an edit-a-thon in the library at the Zonnehof in Amersfoort.

In 2014 the library moved to a new location, the Eemhuis. Starting in May 2014, experienced Wikipedians are available once every month in the Eemhuis to answer questions about Wikipedia and welcome new editors.

De partnership initially used the name Wiki loves Eemland, but later changed it to its current name.

Projects[edit]

Eemkwartier[edit]

Industrial heritage in the Eemkwartier

On April 22, 2016 the project Eemkwartier will be launched. On this day photographers will go out into the Eemkwartier (the neighborhood surrounding the Eemhuis) to take pictures and will be instructed to upload them to Wikimedia Commons. New editors will be introduced in contributing to Wikipedia to expand on the available knowledge on the Eemkwartier.
