Summary
[edit]DescriptionThe Book of the Dead.jpeg |
The Egyptian Book of the Dead on display as a special exhibit at the British Museum. Awesomely old and beautiful, the "Book" isn't one actual book as we sometimes imagine (and not helped by pop culture) but a set of advice and power-giving "spells" for the dead to use in the afterlife. Collections of them were included on scrolls like this in the mummy's tomb or sometimes even insribed on the bandages. The collection evolved over 2000 years into what is now known as the Book of the Dead. |
