Photograph of the "Catching the Bread" part of the ceremony of the Fiesta de San Esteban (Saint Stephen), Acoma Pueblo, ca.1900. A crowd of more than a hundred people -- mostly men, but some women and children as well -- stand on the rocky ground before an adobe building. Some of them stretch their arms forward. Three horses stand behnd the crowd near the building wall. A large tree grows at left.
