Marie de Médicis (1573-1642), reine de France, régente de 1610 à 1614 Description / DécorTypique portrait d’apparat dans la tradition italo-espagnole de la fin du XVIe s. (voir Mor, Pulzone, Sanchez Coello, etc.) avec une insistance marquée sur la dignité monarchique (couronne, habit fleurdelisé, dais), et pouvant de ce fait impliquer une datation postérieure à la mort du roi (1610). Tableau d’origine incertaine, sa première mention ne remontant qu’à 1815 et son histoire antérieure reposant essentiellement sur la mention, toujours reprise depuis Chennevières, que Sauval (1623-1676), auteur publié en 1724 (t. II, p. 38, t. III, p. 20), est seul à faire, d’une Marie de Médicis de Pourbus dans la Petite galerie du Louvre, un Pourbus curieusement isolé au sein d’un ensemble de portraits de rois et de reines de France peints par Bunel selon un contrat de 1607, d’autant que Sauval parle de figures grandeur nature flanquées de médaillons, parti tout à fait étranger à l’INV. 1710. Incertitude aussi sur la grande Marie de Pourbus, des coll. royales, inventoriée en 1690 puis en 1710 (cf. Engerand), avec un pendant, Henri IV, manière de Bunel (réputé disparu), et trop vite assimilée à l’INV. 1710 (Guiffrey, Michel, etc.). Le tableau aurait-il pu provenir d’un autre palais comme celui du Luxembourg qui appartenait à la reine ? |
