Summary

[edit]

Description
English: Located on 35 Burnett Street, St Kilda, Oberwyl (Originally Etloe Hall) was financed by Henry Miller (1809-1888) to be constructed in 1856 for the Portuguese merchant and importer John Gomez De Silva. It's said that due to business failure multiple times on De Silva's part, the house was never fully furbished or decorated. Though very unique in its Greco-regency neo-classical architectural design, the architect is still unknown, though assumed to be John Felix Matthews.
