Description
English: Oblong, with upper, lower parts and sides curved, featuring polychrome enamel decoration of gentleman, legs crossed and seated at table, dressed in 17th century costume smoking a clay pipe. He wears pale red 3/4 length jacket with white lace collar and blue sash draped diagonally across chest, pink knee pants, white stockings, pink Louis XIV style shoes. Table is covered with lace trimmed white cloth, on which sits his pink broad rimmed hat with large white feathers attached. He appears to be sitting on a green-yellow throw that is draped on seat of chair. Plain background is light gray. Reverse undecorated. Lid hinged on left. Striker in small oval recess on box bottom.
