Description

Studebaker built wagons in the 1800s, electric automobiles starting in 1902 and gasoline vehicles from 1904 to 1966. Until the appearance of the 8-cylinder President in January 1928, all Studebaker cars of the 1920s were sixes. In 1927, there were three basic models; The entry level model, the Standard Six was renamed in 1927, the Standard Six Dictator and in 1928 became the Studebaker Dictator. The mid range model Special Six, was also renamed in 1927, the Special Six Commander, then from 1928, the Studebaker Commander Top of the range from Big Six, renamed in 1927 as the President, the largest and most luxurious model. 1929 Dictator engine; GE 70hp 318 cu in 6 cyl (available in 2 door Coupe, Victoria, 4 door Brougham , Sedan and Touring Sedan) 1929 Commander engine; GJ 75hp 354 cu in 6 cyl or FD 80hp 250 cu in 8 cyl (available in 2 door Coupe, Roadster, 4 door Phaeton , Sedan and Touring Sedan)

1929 President engine; FE 114hp 337 cu in 8 cyl 125 inch wheelbase FH or 135 inch wheelbase FE (available in 2 door Roadster, 4 door Sedan, Touring Sedan and Limousine)
