Skylight Blue. Lee Iacocca, Ford's General Manager, had always invisioned a small sports car to be the next hot item, so Ford introduced the new Falcon based 'Pony Car' the Mustang in April, 1964. For the start only Hardtops and Convertibles were available, the fastback in September, Also at the start engines were; 170 cu in 6 cylinder or 260 cu in V8, after mid year, the 289 V8 was introduced. Little changed for the following year, Generators were used in 1964, replaced by alternators in 1965 1964 Engines; 170 cu in 6 cyl (U Code) and 260 cu in V8 (F Code) Photographed at the 50th Anniversary of the Mustang celebrations at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, April 2014 |
