| Description |
Acapulco Blue. Fords Pony car, the Mustang was first introduced in April, 1964. The 1969 Mustang got a new body, nearly 4 inches longer than the 1968. New side scoops were added above the belt-line just behind the doors, while the lower side panel indentation was now gone. Still available in Hardtop and Convertible, but the Fastback was now called the Sportsroof. Models all had new names too. Base model was the 6 cyl Mustang E. The luxury model was the Grande, standard with the Interior Décor Group and Houndstooth upholstery. The Mustang GT was discontinued later in 1969 due to poor sales The sporty model was now the Mach 1, standard with V8, sports suspension, reflective striping, matt black hood with functional scoop. Cobra Jet versions got the Shaker hood scoop. The Boss 302, built for Trans Am homologation, it had a black hood, 'C' stripes, front spoiler, flared fenders and Magnum 500 wheels. The Boss 429, built for NASCAR homologation, it got a huge hood scoop, front spoiler, flared fenders and Magnum 500 wheels. Shelby produced the 290hp 351 GT350 and the 335hp 428 GT500 Engines; 115hp 200 and 155hp 250 6s. V8s were 220hp 302 (290hp Boss 302), 250 and 290hp 351 and 320hp 390, 335hp 428 Cobra Jet and 375hp Boss 429. |
