Description

The HX Holden was built from July 1976-October 1977. The HX was the second of three facelifts on the HQ shape. The HX only got a minor grille update, the major reason for the HX was so that Holden could comply with the new ADR 27a, a rule designed to lower exhaust emissions, this meant a reduction in fuel economy and power. The Monaro GTS was only available now in 4 door, the only 2 door, the Maroon LE (Limited Edition) was produced in September 1976 to use up the remaining 2 door body shells. The base model was the Belmont, available in Sedan, Wagon, Panel Van Utility and One Tonner. Mid spec was the Kingswood, available in Sedan, Wagon and Utility Top was the Premier, available in Sedan and Wagon; quad headlights Also available, the longer bodied Statesman, in Deville and Caprice. The Sporty Sandman option was available on the Vans an Utes, they got bright colours, stripes and Monaro interiors Two special-build HX Kingswood variants were produced. A Kingswood Silver Anniversary model was released in November 1976 to celebrate 50 years of General Motors in Australia and a Kingswood Deluxe sedan and wagon in September 1977 with a 4.2 litre V8 as standard.
