Description

Coming soon: a redesigned Ford Fusion. Unlike the original 2006-2012 model which was a modified Mazda 6, this new Fusion will instead share its basic design with Ford's European large sedan, the Mondeo. And unlike the last US-market Mondeo (the Contour), which had been severely cheapened and compromised, this Fusion looks far more substantial and high-quality.

This particular version, "Energi," is a plug-in hybrid. The Fusion will also offer a straightforward hybrid powertrain, as well as a normally aspirated gasoline engine powertrain and a pair of turbocharged EcoBoost engine powertrains. The V6 option will no longer be available, replaced by the EcoBoost turbo versions, following the footsteps of the competition at Chevrolet and Hyundai.

At the Barrett-Jackson Auction's new car test drive area, I could find the outgoing 2012 Fusion for test drive; I actually found it to be quite pleasant and easy to drive. I hope the 2013 is an even better ride, and even though my previous luck with Ford was very rotten (thanks to the Contour) and I've had much better luck with Honda and Hyundai, I would really like to switch back to Ford if I can.
