Summary
[edit]Description2017 Old San Francisco Mint Building main entrance.jpg |
English: Old United States Mint in San Francisco is located at 5th Street at the corner of Mission Street in the South of Market (SoMa) neighborhood of San Francisco. The mint was established in 1854 to serve the gold mines of the California Gold Rush. The 1874 Neoclassical style building was designed by Alfred B. Mullett. It is one of the few downtown structures that survived the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. As of 2017, it is unutilized, although numerous plans have been advanced for its use. |
