Deutsch: Das 1972 verliehene Gemeindewappen basiert auf dem Siegel des Geschlechts der Hampersdorfer, das ein bedeutender Grundherr in Ellmau war. Zugleich erinnert es mit den Zacken an den Wilden Kaiser, an dessen Südfuß Ellmau liegt.
