I decided to head on out and see what kind of a sunset the heavens may greet us with. Suddenly, still a good ten minutes from my destination, the sky burst open and the sun began to melt into the horizon. I knew it wouldn't last long, decent sunsets this time of year seem to only hang around for a half hour or so. So I floored the car and ended up parked by the side of a farm, with this vista in front of me. Grabbing my gear and the first lens I could find, I quickly wedged the camera on top of the tripod and started to set up. I was rushing so much, at which point I realised I had forgotten my 67mm Lee adapter ring (you know, the adapter that Lee charge you £39.99 for, so that you can use the overpriced filters they have already prised £500 out of your pocket for). So, I dangled the circular polariser on the front of the lens, and didn't bother getting out my plethora of ND grads. Sadly, I had to HDR this to get anywhere near the huge dynamic range that was visible. The Canons, even the new 50mp one, suffer tremendously with shadow noise and when I tried to pull the shadows back in RAW, the image looked like someone had spilt black pepper on it.
