Nothing can be more minute than the engravedornament in the dresses, or more patient than the execution in general; but unfor-tunately the flesh tints are abraded and the Virgins dress darkened and retouched.Two wings of an altarpiece in the Academy at Pisa, (* Sala V., Nos. 9 and 7) con-taining severally St. Peter and St. James the Elder, St. Andrew and a friar-saint witha staff, (* These two figures are St. Anthony the Abbot and St. Bartholomew):life-size figures, with medallions above them, filled each with a saint: may beassigned to Barnaba. * An inscription on the border only contains the words: jacoevs compagnivsPISANVS.
