| Description |
English: The Airline Skate Center, an indoor roller-skating rink along Airline Highway, once a main route between New Orleans and points northwest in the Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, community of Metairie (Louisiana calls its counties "parishes"). Just as some railroads were referred to as "air-lines," the highway, and therefore the rink, got their names from the designation of the then-new, air-route-straight road (compared to many curvy riverside roads) built between 1925 and 1953. |
