| Description |
English: During the era when Charles F. Willis led Alaska Airlines, all sorts of promotional gimmickry occurred. In this case, it was the "Tall Lady". Airline employee Bonnie Pickert walked on the tarmac on stilts and greeted onboard passengers at window level. This proved popular enough to where she made an appearance on TV Tokyo while visiting Japan for a trade association meeting in 1969. It appears the translator is sitting on a high ladder to talk to her and translate for the program hosts. |
