| Description |
English: Anglers' facility on the Eden If it were for shooting, it would be a shooting hut - but anglers possibly would resent this substantial building being called a fishing hut and would suspect sarcasm if I used the category "palace". In any case, it must be galling to have invested in such a level of luxury only to find that unrepealed mediæval laws mean that the River Eden, like all other navigable rivers, has a public right of navigation which it would be an offence to obstruct or impede. Many canoeists, with more sympathy for fishermen than many of them hold for us, will continue to stick with the existing access agreement, limiting numbers by permit, in order to avoid upsetting those who must pay for their leisure pursuit. |
