Summary[edit]

Description
English: The performers really ham it up for us delighted peformers. In all other versions of the bamboo dance I'd seen so far, it was the folks clapping the bamboo poles and the dancers were a mix of boys and girls. In this version, the girls are clapping the bamboo while the boys were dancing. The audience was encouraged to come up on the stage and try the dance. I did too, but at this point, I started getting a bit pissed at my guide Rahman, for he chose this moment to disappear from the scene. So no pictures of me participating in the bamboo dance unfortunately. (Kota Kinabalu, East Malaysia, Nov. 2013)
