So that these meetings really bear to musicthe relation that the exhibitions at the Academy of Fine Arts and theArt Club bear to painting and sculpture. Much admirable work hasbeen done in this way and the Society is certainly to be accordedthe very first place among the agencies at work in the service of musicalculture in Philadelphia. These three societies, like the T. Square Club, are with us not astenants but as co-workers in a common cause. They do not payany rent but they have fitted up at their own expense the rooms whichthey use, and contribute their share toward the payment of our bills forheat and light and janitor service. The alterations to the auditorium which have been made by theMusical Societies were quite extensive and have transformed into areally beautiful room what was before one of the most unattractiveplaces in the building. BRa\D Street. occupied by the T. Square Club is of course only a small part of therenovation that was necessary, almost every room in the buildinghaving to be more or less remodelled. Offices and administrationrooms have been fitted up in both wings and the large rooms, a hun-dred feet in length in some cases, of which the interior mainly con-sisted when we acquired it, have, in the Art School which occupiesthe north wing, been divided into alcoves each one of which makes agood sized studio by itself. In the Art School there are nine studiosfor drawing and painting, each one being either a room by itself or alarge and well lighted alcove capable of being arranged in such a wayas to give a distinct character to the work carried on in it.
