Nederlands: REGIO - Het appverbod op de fiets is maandag 1 juli ingegaan. Wie op de fiets zit met de telefoon in de hand kan een boete van 95 euro riskeren.
Ook in Altena zie je veel jongeren die tijdens het fietsen de mobiel in de hand houden, vaak om muziek door te zappen of berichtjes te versturen. Het verbod houdt in dat je de telefoon niet meer in de hand mag houden. Het verbod geldt buiten telefoons ook voor andere elektronische apparatuur zoals muziekspelers, tablets of navigatiesystemen. In een houder op het stuur mag je nog wel een navigatiesysteem gebruiken, maar je mag deze niet bedienen tijdens het fietsen. De politie gaat niet specifiek controleren. Met het verbod hoopt de politie afleiding in het verkeer tegen te gaan. Wie bijvoorbeeld een telefoon gebruikt tijdens het rijden loopt volgens berekeningen minstens 25 keer meer risico op een ongeluk. De politie laat weten: ‘De media hebben het vooral over een app-verbod voor fietsers. Maar het gaat verder dan dat. Het verbod geldt voor alle bestuurders van voertuigen. Toch is die specifieke aandacht voor fietsers goed. Dat is namelijk een kwetsbare groep op de weg.
