AlBEH-T I_,^AN5BV(lGH , AhcHITECI IN designing tliis theatre the problem was to plan a dramatic housethat would have rather an exotic character, since the theatre is inHollywood, where a majority of the residents demand the extraordi-nary. It was for this reason that I selected the East Indian type which hadnot heretofore been u.sed in Southern California. The results have beenmost gratifying. The type seemed to lend admirably to the solution ofthe problem, since in detail it is graceful and the coloring delightful.Fortunately, we were able to secure the .services of Mr. Smeraldi, adecorator, who worked with me in great symjiathy. The theatre seats 1500 and is strictly a dramatic playhouse
