Summary

[edit]
Description
English:
During construction of the San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge: Brunnier conceived this panoramic picture of the San Francisco Bay and skyscrapers as a unique background for the Engineers' Club new bar. Instead of the customary mirror Mr. Brunnier suggested window glass with nature's own background. The result is as fascinating as it is novel.

ves in an ethicalmanner. No matter what standard of service isset up or how excellent our objects may beor how ideal our code of ethics may be—they will not admit us to public confidencesunless each individual member sincerely andhonestly exemplifies these precepts in hisdaily life. Therefore, in conclusion let each of usmake it our purpose To consider Structural Engineering aworthy profession, affording us not merelya means of material gain and self expres-sion, but also a distinct opportunity to servesociety. To hold that success in the profession ofStructural Engineering is a worthy ambi-tion, but to seek no success that is notfounded on justice and right; and to con-sider that true success cannot arise fromabuse of privilege, betrayal of trust, or tak-ing unfair advantage of opportunities forgain or distinction. To do our utmost, in cooperation withothers, to raise the accepted standards ofStructural Engineering. THE ARCHITECT AND ENGINEER ^ 43 ► NOVEMBER. NINETEEN THIRTY-FOUR
