STRUCTURAL ENGINEERS ASSOCIATIONOF SAN FRANCISCO Precast concrete was discussed in detail at theApril meeting of the Structural Engineers Associa-tion at the Engineers Club. Principal speaker wasWillard Ashton, of the Otto Buehner firm in SaltLake City. He discussed the development of ornamentalconcrete work to supplant use of cut stone, andshowed samples of Mo-Sais various color andtexture finishes. We believe that it offers to the engineers andarchitects a new field of design, he declared. Itcan give a larger scale in the field in which heworks and also a variety of colors. The architectural slab is lightweight in compari-son to stone, and more economical to ship, he said.Its function is not confined to new construction,but it is also valuable as a facing for remodelingjobs.
