Attention isfocused on feature displays, and the merchandise.The lighting has been lowered to a level of four-teen feet and the equipment lighting to seven feetor less. Each case and display is lighted in addi-tion to the general lighting of the store which con-sists of fluorescent fixtures combined with incan-descent spot lights. Natural daylight, long a fea-ture in Atkins, has been retained but is supple-mented by the fluorescent lighting. To eliminate theappearance of having a great many light fixtures,a unit was selected which has luminous sides andcreates the impression of long lines of light source. The general effect is of a brightly lighted store butthere is no sense of glare because of the balanceof fluorescent and incandescent illumination. Spotlights are of the swivel type and are adjusted topick any desired feature
