Summary[edit]

Description

A one-off design (though quite similar to its predecessor, the Active I), G-ABVE was first registered in 1932 and competed in that and the following year's Kings Cup Air Race, powered by a DH Gipsy III. It was stored at Yeadon during the war and did not re-emerge until 1957, when it was rebuilt with a Gipsy Major IC for Norman Jones and the Tiger Club. It was then raced again for several years, as shown here at Rochester on 14 Jul 1968, with Race No.48, chequer-tail and Tiger Club insignia forward of the cockpit.
