Русский: Этот труд, изданный по заказу Переселенческого управления Главного управления землеустройства и земледелия в Санкт-Петербурге, содержит некоторые из лучших исследований начала XX века по территориям, которые в Российской Империи обычно называли Азиатской Россией. В томе I описано постепенное переселение русских за Урал, в Сибирь, в степные районы, Туркестан и на Дальний Восток, перемещение, которому способствовало строительство Транссибирской железной дороги в 1890-е годы. Том содержит очерки по истории переселения русских, этнографии и местному управлению. Кроме того, рассмотрены границы, система судопроизводства, демография, религия, образование, медицинская практика, история городов, казаки и их земли, переселение крестьян. Том II посвящен земле и экономике. Очерки охватывают климат, почвы, геологическое строение, флору и фауну, торговлю, промышленность, транспорт и связь. Le volume I aborde la réinstallation progressive des peuples russes au-delà des montagnes de l'Oural, vers la Sibérie, les steppes, le Turkestan et l'Extrême-Orient, une migration qui fut encouragée par la construction de la ligne ferroviaire du Transsibérien dans les années 1890. Il comprend des essais sur l'histoire de la colonisation, l'ethnographie et l'administration locale en Russie. Russie asiatique; Conjoncture économique; Ethnographie; Irrigation; Migration; Sibérie English: This work, commissioned by the Resettlement Department of the Land Regulation and Agriculture Administration in Saint Petersburg, contains some of the best research of the early 20th century on what in the Russian Empire was commonly referred to as Asiatic Russia. Volume I covers the gradual resettlement of Russian peoples beyond the Ural Mountains, to Siberia, the steppe areas, Turkestan, and the Far East, a migration that was encouraged by the construction of the Trans-Siberian Railway in the 1890s. It includes essays on the history of Russian settlement, ethnography, and local administration. Also discussed are borders, the court system, demographics, religion, education, medical practice, the history of cities, the Cossacks and their lands, and peasant resettlement. Volume II focuses on the land and economy. Essays cover climate, soils, geological structure, flora and fauna, trade, industry, and transportation and communications. Artificial irrigation systems and agricultural practices in Turkistan and Central Asia are extensively discussed. Maps and illustrations are included in both volumes. The first and only edition of this work was published in four volumes, including a volume of supplements and indices and an atlas.
