Description
Nederlands: In 1624 werd Breda door de Spanjaarden op de Republiek veroverd. In 1637 werd de stad heroverd door een Nederlands leger onder aanvoering van Frederik Hendrik. Op deze kaart, opgenomen in het stedenboek van Joan Blaeu (1596-1673) uit 1649, is deze belegering in beeld gebracht. In de legenda langs de onderzijde van de kaart worden de verschillende belegeringswerken rondom de stad toegelicht.
English: Breda was conquered by Spain on the Dutch Republic in 1624. The city was recaptured in 1637 by an army led by Frederik Hendrik. This map, which is included in Joan Blaeus (1596-1673) Town Books of the Netherlands from 1649, shows the siege. The legends along the bottom of the map explain several siege machines around the city.
