Summary[edit]

Description
English: Typewriter in Ávila Museum (Casa de los Deanes building) (Ávila, Spain). Early typewriter, the Mignon, manufactured from 1905 to 1934 by Allgemeinen Elektrizitaets-Gesellschaft (AEG), Berlin, Germany. This was called an index typewriter; to operate it, the pointer was pointed at a letter, and the key to the right was pressed to type it. The types are on a metal 'typesleeve' seen at top, which could be changed to type different fonts and character sets for different languages. The Mignon was the most successful index typewriter, and was exported to other European countries. This was the last model, the Mignon 4, produced from 1923 to 1934, and was the first to have a backspace key, seen to right of the other keys.Text from SchreibmaschineAEG Mignon file by ChiemseeMan
