Description
English: Barbadoes (1778)

Scale: 1:48. Plan showing the body plan, sheer lines with inboard detail, and longitudinal half-breadth for Barbadoes (1778), a 12-gun Ship Sloop, as taken off at Deptford. The plan possibly illustrates the ship as she was original fitted, before any alterations were undertaken, as she has no double anchor bitts, the orlop deck has not been created and there is no obvious wheel position before the mizzen mast.

Signed by Adam Hayes [Master Shipwright, Deptford Dockyard, 1755-1785 (died)].

Note: there is confusion as to whether this is the ex-American 'Rhodes' captured in 1782 and renamed Barbadoes, or the American ship purchased in 1778. Both have similar dimensions.
