Description
Nederlands: Ruik je ’s middags al een barbecue bij de Tweede Kamer? Dan weet je: het zomerreces staat voor de deur. Donderdag 6 juli 2017 was het weer zover.

De barbecue is een traditie van meer dan veertig jaar. Tot 1990 gloeiden de kooltjes op het Binnenhof en waren er wel 1.200 gasten. Tegenwoordig eten zo’n 400 gasten mee op de binnenplaats van perscentrum Nieuwspoort.

Het is vooral een netwerkevent van politici, lobbyisten en journalisten. De barbecue wordt georganiseerd en betaald door de vleessector.

Eind jaren tachtig werd er regelmatig geprotesteerd tegen het eetfestijn. Actiegroep Lekker Dier protesteerde in 1988 op de rand van de fontein van het Binnenhof.

Eén man is er de afgelopen veertig jaar altijd bij geweest: chef-kok Huub Oudshoorn. In 2017
