Description
English: Barrel hook and mainspring punching pliers steel pliers. One arm has 5 pointed rods inserted through and held in place with screws. Other arm acts as stopper for rods and has 4 circular holes on outer arm. Screw at plier joint. Marked on handles- "L. HUGONIOT-TISSOT" and "ACIER FONDU". the outer end of the mainspring of a watch or clock was connected to the barrel, into which it fitted, by a hook or a hole connecting to a slot or projection inside the barrel. If a mainspring broke at or near that connection, it was sometimes possible (essential during the shortages of the war years) to reuse the old spring by rehooking it or making a new hole in the spring or barrel. This tool, with its varying sized and shaped punches were designed for that purpose.
