Description
English: Bust portrait of a man in uniform. "Capt Bellairs" (written below image).

"Captain Bellairs Bellairs gift of Miss Katherine Byars 1949" (written on reverse side of image).

No record exists for Capt. Bellairs in the Union or Confederate armies. The subject appears to have a crown on his uniform collar, suggesting he was a member of the British army. Capt. Bellairs may have been one of several British liaisons or observers sent by the British government during the Civil War.
