Summary[edit]

Description
English: Red goatskin, the upper and lower covers tooled with an ornate gold border decorated with abstract corner designs. In the centre is one of the nine armorial devices of Alexander H. Turnbull. The edges of the covers and the turn-ins are gold tooled, the endpapers are marbled, and the top text edge is gilt. The spine, with raised bands, is gold tooled in decorated compartments. The turn-in of the upper cover is signed: Bound by Zaehnsdorf 1914, and Zaehnsdorf’s gold binder’s stamp can be found on the lower pastedown.

Purchased by Alexander H. Turnbull.
