rtainly they are notparticular about its purity; they willswallow it in a condition which wouldmake a sanitarian shudder; nay, wefear that a not inconsiderable admix-ture of ammoniacal salts increases theattraction of the beverage. It is ad-mitted that both Moths and Butterfliesvisit sugar, overripe fruit, and the like,but it is pleaded that they do this forfood. Perhaps; but we fear this is notthe whole truth. Every collector knowswhat a deadly lure this is, and whattreasures the dark-lantern reveals as hegoes his rounds. True, this snare isfatal only to the Moth, because atnight the Butterfly is asleep.
