Big Boudin in South Bulgaria (Rhodope Mountains)

Summary[edit]

Description
English: Big boudin (ca. 3x0.5 m), found at 41°21'55.5"N 26°03'26.8"E in the Rhodope Mountains. The boudin was formed in amphibolite facies, with a cataclastic amphibolitic rim, which seperates the uncatalastic boudin from the leucocratic gneiss. The gneiss is also deformed by tectonic extension.
Deutsch: Amphibolitfazieller Megaboudin (ca. 3m breit und 50 cm dick), welcher bei 41°21'55.5"N 26°03'26.8"E gefunden wurde. Am Rand befindet sich stark kataklastischer Amphibolit, welcher sich zwischen dem ungestörten Boudin und dem umgebenden hellen Gneis befindet. Dieser ist ebenfalls durch die Dehnung verfaltet worden.
